Amdanaf iI am an avid reader from the Boston area, I enjoy vocal jazz and I love animals.
Parthed fy llyfrgellI'm not a book snob, I read broadly and have a tendency to grab anything by an author I like without reservation.
I am also on Bookmooch, Postcrossing, Flickr, and Swapbot, same name, same philosophy - I enjoy sharing the things I love!

I'm following you!!
Question:
Are the books listed in your LT account as Wish List books that you are after personally rather than for other people?
If so, I have a copy of The Brief History of the Dead spare.
Just give me the nod - it's not on BM atm.

Tell me how that Foucault is after you read it.
I've been thinking about picking it up.
... and have a happy holiday! :)

When I was younger (about 13 probably) I used to think Goethe was pronounced go-eth hahaha

I have been wanting to read Dostoevsky and my professor recommended "Notes from Underground" to start so I picked it up this weekend. Do you believe I made a wise decision?
I picked up Lady CHatterly's Lover last week as well.
I just completed The Time Traveler's Wife a few days back and it blew me away! =) How'd you like it?
I'm going to try and read fifty books by 9/15/2008... I believe I'm on #13 or #14 right now (Hell's Angels by Hunter S. Thompson)
Hope all is well. We're having some crazy fires here in California.
Regards,
Douglas

I usually buy paperbacks, used, or borrow from the library since I am no longer working. I like having my own so I can mark in them if I feel like it. When I was in college they didn't have too many paperbacks and I bought a lot of classics and reference books. Will check out bookmooch, thanks for the info. Polly (pjjackson)

What comes to time, all it takes is prioritizing. Not working fulltime is a big help, too. I'm a stay-at-home dad and my wife's also home for now, so there's time for reading and writing blogs if you take it. It's a priority for me, really - I don't watch TV, for example, just a single episode of some show or other from DVD each day with my wife.
We share quite a few books, but not many favourite authors... I've been meaning to read Solzenitsyn's Arhipelag Gulag for a while now, but it's never in the library when I look for it...

Ty for stopping by Mary. I'm still learning how things work around here, I am entirely cyber-stupid. I'm working on making a link and you're my guines pig. :) Please delete my nonsense if this still doesn't work.

I like recommendations of really good contemporary literature. Stop by some time when you're not busy reading. :)

If you see something interesting on BM let me know. I've been to the post office twice in four days. The postmaster is starting to recognize me!
