ElizabethChapman's review

This anthology of 37 short stories brings together the work of well-known authors -- Richard Ford, Ellen Gilchrist, and Tennessee Williams among them -- along with those less familiar to most readers. What they all share is a fascination with the French Quarter of New Orleans.

As with any anthology, the quality of the writing is uneven -- although I strongly suspect that a piece beloved by one reader would be precisely the story disliked by another.

While a love of the French Quarter would certainly give extra relish to anyone deciding to read this, that's not a prerequisite for being swept into these glimpses of the Vieux Carre. Certainly a useful companion if you're planning to visit New Orleans.
